Dad building his home in the country

We are family owned and built.

Our dad and mom had a vision to retire to the country after the last of their 13 children finished high school, with that in mind, they (along with about half of the thirteen) purchased 212 ¾ acres of land in northern Vinton County in 1978 and began building their retirement home in 1984.

When completed in the spring of 1986, they moved to their “home in the country” and started a journey that ran 25 years and created many happy memories. With the passing of both parents in 2010 and 2011 – the remaining 12 of us decided to embark on a new path with the same home.

The home our parents (and a few sons and friends) built with their own hands, and the love they have for the land brought an idea to share it with other nature seekers. Visitors and new friends alike include those who might enjoy time spent bird watching like our mom, exploring the woods like dad, spending time in a quiet setting, and hunting the deer and wildlife on the land. The house is comfortably furnished with all amenities for a tranquil stay in the country.

The home is fully furnished and the photos show snapshots of the nature you’ll find and a link to area attractions you’ll discover. We do not publish the address to insure our guests privacy. We will provide you directions and the physical address when we discuss your booking.

Come join us for a few days or a week, the prices are reasonable and the memories you’ll make will be cherished for a lifetime and have you scheduling a return visit for another season.
